FAQs About Invisalign

Our dental team can provide you with answers to all the questions you have about Invisalign.

Did you know that there is a way to achieve a straighter smile with a specific type of braces that other people may never even notice you’re wearing? Invisalign makes it possible for our North Richland Hills, TX, dentist Dr. Anu Vaddineni to provide a more aesthetically pleasing and socially “friendly” orthodontic treatment to his teen and adult patients. Have questions about Invisalign? You’ve come to the right place….

What is Invisalign and how does it work?

Invisalign works a little differently from other orthodontic treatment options. Instead of using brackets that we bond to the front of your teeth, you will receive a set of custom-fitted aligners made from transparent, medical-grade plastic. Aligners look similar to retainers and they are designed to fit firmly around your teeth to apply the ideal amount of pressure to move your smile into the desired and final position.

Will Invisalign work for me?

Invisalign is a great option for our older adolescent and adult patients who feel embarrassed by their crooked smiles but have concerns about others noticing their braces. Invisalign makes it possible for adults to finally achieve the ideal smile no matter their age. If you are dealing with crookedness, spacing between teeth and common malocclusions such as overbites or underbites then getting Invisalign from our North Richland Hills, TX, dental team may be the right choice for you.

Do I have to change my diet when wearing Invisalign?

One of the awesome advantages of Invisalign is that these aligners are removable. This means that you don’t have to change your routine around too much in order to accommodate your braces. In fact, you don’t even have to avoid certain foods because of your braces. Simply, remove your aligners prior to eating or drinking and then make sure to brush your teeth, rinse your aligners out and then place them back in your mouth after eating. It’s that simple!

How often do I need to wear my aligners?

As tempting as it may be to constantly remove your aligners whenever you feel like it, you should be wearing your aligners whenever you aren’t eating or brushing and flossing your teeth. This equates to about 22 hours each day. After you’ve worn your aligners for two weeks, you will then replace your aligners for the next set in your treatment series.

How often will I need to visit my dentist during treatment?

Most patients will need to come into the office about every 4-6 weeks so we can monitor your treatment and make sure that everything is progressing properly.
